What is the pre-degree programme?
The pre-university course or pre-degree course, popularly abbreviated to PUC or PDC, is an intermediate course of one years’ duration, conducted by university education institutions or boards. A person desiring admission to the University must pass this course, which can be considered as a degree bridge course to prepare students for university education.
Admission to this course is based on marks obtained for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate, awarded after successful completion of five years of primary school, followed by five years of secondary school.
For example, the university conducts examinations at the end of the year of the Pre-degree for university admissions. This has program streams with options focusing on science, commerce, and arts, respectively. Students desiring to study professional programs in Uniport must pass the science stream of this exam and qualify through the admission cut off Point of the university after the one year lecture in other to filter out low-scoring students and improve overall average scores. Only about 40% of students usually pass the exam, and only about 1.5% score above 85% overall.

ELIGIBILITY
The Programme is open to applicants with a minimum of five (5) Credits in not more than two sittings in English Language and other relevant subjects [in GCE, SSCE, NECO, NABTEB & TC II (TC II is applicable for applicants for Faculty of Education)]. Uniport Pre-degree admission programme form.
COURSE DURATION
The Programme is for a period of one year (one academic session).
COMMENCEMENT DATE
The online application will commence in August 2018.
METHOD OF APPLICATION
Application is online, Log on to http://www.uniport.edu.ng, go to the “ADMISSIONS”/”ONLINE PORTALS” menu, click on “Pre-Degree/Certificate Programmes” and follow the Application procedure and the instructions; a fee of Sixteen Thousand Naira only (N16,000.00), excluding Bank charges is required. Payment can be made online with your MasterCard/visa card, or print the “RRR” Remita code to any supported bank nationwide to make payment.
The names on candidates’ O’ Level Certificates must be the same as what is filled online. Any false information given automatically disqualifies the applicant.
CLOSING DATE
The closing date for application is November 2018.
APTITUDE TEST
The University Aptitude Test will take place November, 2018

3. HAVE THE NATIONAL MINIMUM SCORE IN THE 2018/2019 UTME AND MUST HAVE CHOSEN THE UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT
