Is Mass Communication cancel? This is to inform all candidates, parents and our jamb students who are willing to choose a mass communication course as their first choice in forthcoming UTME. The course has been canceled in our tertiary institutions from this year 2020 by national university commission NUC.
This information was review to one of the spokesmen during a chat with NUC’s Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, about the sudden change of course MASS COMMUNICATION which was split into three different parts. This entails the following:
Media studies
Public Relation studies and
Cinematography
New Mass Communication Courses Offered In All Universities (NUC)
Is Mass Communication cancel? The NUC had approved the Curriculum which resulted in the emergence of degree-awarding programmes and the phasing out of the single BSc/BA Degree Programme in Mass Communication currently offered in different Faculties in different universities.
The course was further disintegrated into seven units of courses all under the faculty of “COMMUNICATION AND MEDIA STUDIES” which includes the following course:
- Advertising
- Broadcasting
- Film and multimedia studies
- Development communication
- Information and media studies.
- Journalism and media studies
- Public Relation studies
So if you are candidates who wish to study Mass communication, then you will have to know that the subdivided unit courses are the course are available under the faculty of Mass communication.
