Rivers State Public and Private Primary and Secondary Schools First (1st), Second [2nd], Third (3rd) Term School resumption date for all students for 2019/2020 Academic Session.
The Rivers State Government has announced Monday 5th October 2020 the official resumption date for all Secondary Schools, Vocational schools, and Tertiary Schools for the 2019/2020 academic session.
Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebeku made the disclosure to newsmen after an emergency SEC meeting at the Government House, Port Harcourt. Prof. Ebeku said the Council approved that schools in Rivers should reopen on October 5, 2020.
According to him, “The SEC approved the reopening of all Secondary Schools, Vocational schools and Tertiary Schools.“For the avoidance of doubt, the council based on medical advice did not approve the reopening of Primary Schools in the state which would await a new date in the future.
Furthermore, the Executive council approved the setting up of a 7-man Taskforce to monitor compliance of the COVID-19 protocol in all the schools.

The Ogun State Government, southwest Nigeria has announced Wednesday, October 8 as the resumption date for public and private primary and secondary schools across the state.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, gave the hint while briefing reporters at a press briefing held in Abeokuta, the state capital.
At another briefing before this pronouncement by the State Government, the leadership of the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, NUT, had vowed to go on industrial strike if adequate preventive measures were not put in place to ensure the health and safety of teachers and students against the dreaded Ebola virus disease.
Meanwhile, the State Government said that it was putting in place a dedicated team to go round the schools to ensure basic preventive measures are in place at both public and private schools before the resumption date announced.

Edo has shifted the resumption of primary and secondary schools for the 2020/2021 academic session to Tuesday, October 6.
The Special Adviser to the Edo Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, disclosed this in an online statement.
Osagie said: “The Edo State government has moved the resumption of primary and secondary schools for 2020/21 academic calendar from Monday, September 28, 2020, to Tuesday, October 6, 2020.”
He however did not give any reason for the sudden change

The Abia Government has announced Monday 28th September 2020 the official resumption date for primary and secondary schools for the completion of the third term academic activities for the 2019/2020 academic session.
The Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi-Kalu, made this known in a statement he issued in Umuahia on the outcome of the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting.
Okiyi-Kalu stated that the schools were expected to conduct one-week revision classes to prepare the pupils and students for the promotion examination.
According to him, the state government directed that the examination should hold from October 5 to October 16.
He further stated that the examination would be used to assess the children, in addition to their first and second-term work as well as the radio/television classroom programme.
He stated that teachers would be given one week to prepare the third term results, while the first term of 2020/21 session would commence on October 26 and end on December 23.
Okiyi-Kalu also stated that the Ministry of Education would publish other guidelines, including the COVID-19 protocols and approved fees to be charged by private schools.
He stated that the resumption dates for tertiary institutions would be announced by the schools’ authorities based on the time-table and protocols submitted to the state government.
