List of Federal Unity Colleges in Nigeria and Their Locations. Are you looking for the list of Federal Unity Colleges in Nigeria for your child, or are you preparing to register a pupil for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE)?
Federal Unity Colleges are government-owned secondary schools established to provide education to children from different parts of the country. Admission into JSS1 is through the National Common Entrance Examination, conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO).
Below is a list of Federal Unity Colleges and Federal Science and Technical Colleges across Nigeria, arranged by geopolitical zone and state to make it easier for parents and pupils to find schools in their preferred locations.
How Many Federal Unity Colleges Are in Nigeria?
The number depends on the category and official count being used.
The Federal Ministry of Education’s current website lists 110 Federal Unity Colleges. However, its 2022 Unity Spotlight publication refers to 112 colleges, while the Federal Government’s July 2026 NCEE results announcement identifies 83 Federal Unity Colleges for that admission exercise.
The schools covered by the Federal Unity Colleges system include Federal Government Colleges (FGC), Federal Government Girls’ Colleges (FGGC), Federal Science and Technical Colleges (FSTC), and other federal specialist schools.
What Are the Requirements for Federal Unity College Admission?
Pupils seeking admission into JSS1 of Federal Unity Colleges must sit for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE).
For the 2026 examination, NECO stated that candidates must be in the final year of primary school and must be at least 10 years old by September 2026.
The Federal Government also described eligible candidates for the 2026 exercise as children between 10 and 12 years old. The old claim that every candidate aged between 10 and 14 is eligible should therefore not be repeated as a general rule.
Parents should always check the eligibility conditions in the NECO advert for the examination year they intend to enter.

How to Register for the National Common Entrance Examination
Registration for the NCEE is handled by NECO. Parents and guardians should use the official registration portal when registration opens.
The process generally involves:
- Visiting the official NECO website.
- Opening the NCEE registration section.
- Creating an account using the required contact details.
- Completing the candidate’s information, including the required NIN details.
- Making payment through the approved NECO payment options.
- Completing the registration and printing the candidate’s examination photocard.
For the 2026 examination, NECO announced a registration fee of ₦5,940. This was the fee for that particular examination year; parents should check the next official NCEE announcement for the applicable amount.
Important Things Parents Should Know
Do not assume that every school in the directory is automatically available for selection in every NCEE admission exercise. NECO and the Federal Ministry of Education determine the participating colleges and available admission spaces.
Parents should also confirm the school’s current boarding arrangements, admission availability and location before making their choices.
Conclusion
Federal Unity Colleges give pupils an opportunity to attend federal secondary schools outside their home states. If your child is preparing for JSS1 admission, the first step is to understand the NCEE requirements and select a college that is available for the relevant admission year.
For the latest examination information, visit the NECO official website and the Federal Ministry of Education.
