How Many Candidates Registered For 2024 UTME JAMB? The JAMB boss mentioned that out of the 1.98 million candidates registered for the main 2024 UTME, over 260,000 participated in the mock exam. He explained that they limited the number of mock exam registrants to prevent it from becoming another full exam.
As of Yesterday, more than 260,000 candidates participated in the annual mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Mock UTME) at 793 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers nationwide.
The Registrar/Chief Executive of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, revealed this information following his observation of the mock exam at various centers in Abuja.
Oloyede expressed satisfaction with the smooth conduct of the mock exam across the country. He emphasized that the purpose of the mock exam was to assess candidates’ readiness for the main UTME, scheduled to commence on Friday, April 19, 2024.
He further disclosed that the examination body successfully administered a recruitment examination for the Nigeria Police on Wednesday. Despite a few incidents reported during the mock UTME at approximately four centers, Prof. Oloyede assured that these issues would be promptly addressed.
He stated, “So far, the process has been smooth. Before today’s mock UTME, we conducted a mock recruitment exam for the Police Service Commission across 411 centers nationwide.
Today, we’re overseeing our mock UTME in 793 centers nationwide. While there have been a few isolated issues at three or four locations, we are actively working to resolve them. Even in the event of a complete shutdown at those centers, we have contingency plans in place to accommodate affected candidates. Overall, everything is progressing well, and the feedback we’ve received indicates that we are on track.”

Regarding the readiness for the main UTME, Oloyede assured that JAMB was fully prepared, and they would introduce new measures to strengthen the exam system.
Damilola Bamiro, an ICT consultant at JAMB, added that the exam body was closely monitoring all the centers involved in the examination through the JAMB’s Situation Room. This setup enables real-time communication between the centers and JAMB to swiftly address any issues that arise during the exam.
