My system shut down during my jamb exam day What Will I do? You don’t need to panic about this issue, for the solution is provided below.
At the Global Distance Learning Institute, opposite the Federal Ministry of Finance, Central Business District, Abuja, candidates who arrived early to write the first set of the examination, scheduled to start at 8 am, were disappointed as they could not start at the scheduled time, even though they were all quietly seated and ready for the exercise.
On inquiry, an invigilator at the centre, who gave his name as Rilwanu, explained that the time had been shifted by an hour. He did not, however, state the reason for the shift.
According to the invigilator, the delay was not due to technical problems but the need to wait for instructions from JAMB, so that the time would be consistent with other centres.
One of the monitors at the centre, Abdulrahman Balogun, said he had visited several centres such as Jikwoyi, Karu and Distance Learning Institute, and described it as a success story.
He said: “This centre (Distance Learning Institute) is supposed to have three sessions at 7, 9 and 11 am, respectively. However, they had some delay; it was not due to technical problems but just to get the go-ahead from JAMB.”
All these are some of the excuses that were given. There are many other states who also complain about certain issues such as
- The system shuts down during the JAMB exam day
- Some candidates complain about not submitting their JAMB exam before the time ran out.
- Some candidates encountered technical difficulties during the JAMB exam.
- Why some candidates missed their JAMB exam date
Solutions to the Problems to System shut down during my Jamb exam day
The system shuts down during the JAMB Exam Day What Should I Do?
Suppose you were unable to finish the test within the allotted time, experienced a network interruption, or had your computer shut down.
In such a scenario, the computer will still automatically submit whatever work you had completed up to that point. For example, if you had only completed 3 out of 4 subjects, then only those 3 subjects would be submitted automatically.
Similarly, if you had answered a total of 200 questions, only those 200 questions would be submitted automatically.
It is as if you were submitting an incomplete test on your own before finishing it. There is no hard and fast rule stating that all questions must be answered prior to submission.
Will JAMB Deduct Mark From Me If My System Submitted My Questions and Answers?
If you are one of the candidates who took the JAMB exam and your exam submission was automatically triggered by the expiration of the specific time allotted for answering JAMB questions on your system, then this information is relevant to you.
You may have heard a common misconception that if your computer submits your JAMB test on your behalf, you will lose some of your scores as a penalty. This may have caused you to worry, but I’m here to tell you that this is not true.
JAMB will not deduct or penalize any marks due to your inability to submit the UTME exam yourself.
Whether you manually submit the exam or it is automatically submitted by the computer, your marks will remain the same. So, there’s no need to be concerned about losing any marks in case your computer submits your test for you.
Some Candidates encountered technical difficulties during the JAMB exam
I understand. If some candidates encountered technical difficulties during the JAMB exam, it can be a frustrating experience. Technical issues can range from slow internet connectivity, and computer freezes, to power outages.
In such cases, it’s important to stay calm and notify the invigilator immediately. The invigilator can then contact the technical support team to resolve the issue or provide a backup solution if necessary.
If you encounter technical difficulties during the JAMB exam, it’s important to take note of the time and report it to JAMB after the exam. By doing so, you are helping JAMB to identify and address technical issues in the future, and also provide evidence of the problem.

However, please note that not all candidates who experience technical issues during the JAMB exam will be rescheduled for the Jamb mop-up exam. JAMB will assess the severity of the technical difficulties on a case-by-case basis before making a decision.
Conclusion
It’s important for candidates to know that if they fail to submit their UTME due to technical issues or timing out, the computer system is designed to handle the submission automatically.
If the issue is technical, the CBT center may allow candidates to resume the test where it was interrupted or reschedule them for the JAMB Mop-up Exam. However, if the submission failure is due to timing out, candidates should expect to receive results based on what they have covered so far.
It’s important to note that not submitting your exam due to technical difficulties or timing out will not result in any sanctions or deductions of marks.
