JAMB Mop-Up Examination Eligibility | Slip Printing & Results 2026/2027

The JAMB Mop-Up Examination is an additional UTME sitting organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for candidates selected by the Board after problems prevent them from completing the main examination or when other examination related issues require a mop-up exercise.

Unlike the regular Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the mop-up examination is not open to every candidate who wants another chance to write JAMB. Candidates must meet the conditions announced by JAMB and be included in the Board’s approved list.

This guide explains how the JAMB mop-up examination works, who may qualify, how to confirm eligibility, print the examination notification slip and check the result. It also provides records of previous mop-up exercises.

If you have written JAMB before, Can you help other candidates? Yes. Share your centre name, address and transport fare through this short form so future candidates can find their own centre easily.  Fill the form: Where Did You Write JAMB

Latest JAMB Mop-Up Examination Update

The 2026/2027 JAMB Mop-Up UTME has already been conducted. JAMB scheduled the examination for Saturday, June 13, 2026, for eligible candidates affected by problems during the main UTME. The Board opened the examination-slip printing process ahead of the exercise.

The examination was subsequently conducted, and JAMB announced the release of the mop-up results on June 16, 2026. The release marked the completion of the 2026 UTME exercise.

There is no new mop-up examination date to announce for another examination year in this update. Candidates should wait for an official JAMB announcement rather than rely on dates circulating on social media.

Official updates are published through the JAMB website and its official bulletin page.

What Is the JAMB Mop-Up Examination?

The JAMB Mop-Up Examination is an additional examination arranged for specific candidates who could not complete the main UTME because of circumstances recognised by JAMB.

For example, technical difficulties at an examination centre may prevent candidates from taking their scheduled test. Problems with biometric verification may also require the Board to review affected candidates.

JAMB assesses the circumstances and determines which candidates should participate. The mop-up exercise is therefore not the same as registering for another UTME or requesting a second attempt simply because a candidate is unhappy with an earlier score. Continue reading What is Jamb Mop

Who Is Eligible for JAMB Mop-Up Examination?

Eligibility depends on the circumstances and instructions issued by JAMB for the particular examination year.

In the 2026 exercise, the Board identified candidates affected by technical problems during the main UTME and candidates whose biometric verification could not be successfully completed.

The Board also explained that affected candidates had been identified for the exercise.

A candidate should therefore not assume that a missed examination automatically guarantees a mop-up invitation. The final decision rests with JAMB.

Some important distinctions:

• Technical problems at a CBT centre: Candidates affected by examination-centre difficulties may be considered.
• Biometric verification problems: Candidates whose verification could not be completed may be considered under the Board’s instructions.
• Personal reasons for missing an examination: Missing an examination because of lateness, transport difficulties or other personal circumstances does not automatically make a candidate eligible.
• Dissatisfaction with a UTME score: A candidate who has received a result cannot request a mop-up examination simply to improve the score.

Always refer to the eligibility conditions for the particular year.

How to Know If You Are Eligible for JAMB Mop-Up

The safest way to confirm eligibility is through JAMB’s official communication and examination-slip portal.

When JAMB announces a mop-up exercise, follow these steps:

1. Visit the official JAMB website.
2. Read the announcement concerning the mop-up examination.
3. Follow the instructions provided for checking eligibility and printing the notification slip.
4. Enter the details requested on the official portal.
5. Check whether the system makes a notification slip available for you.

You can use the JAMB Support Portal to submit an enquiry.

How to Print JAMB Mop-Up Examination Slip

The mop-up examination notification slip contains important information about a candidate’s examination arrangement. Depending on the year’s instructions, it show the examination date, time, venue and other relevant details.

When the printing portal is officially opened, candidates should:

1. Visit the mop-up examination slip-printing page announced by JAMB.
2. Follow the instructions displayed on the portal.
3. Provide the required registration details.
4. Check the information displayed on the notification slip.
5. Print the slip and keep it safely for the examination.

The dedicated JAMB Mop-Up Examination Slip Portal can be checked for its current printing status. The printing window is not permanently open; it is activated during the period announced by JAMB.

What Information Is on the JAMB Mop-Up Slip?

Candidates should carefully read their notification slips because the information determines where and when they are expected to write the examination.

The slip may contain:

• Candidate’s examination details.
• Assigned CBT centre.
• Examination date.
• Scheduled examination time.
• Other instructions issued by JAMB.

Do not assume that your previous UTME centre will also be your mop-up centre. Use the details on the new notification slip.

How to Check JAMB Mop-Up Result

Candidates who participate in a mop-up examination should follow JAMB result release announcement for that examination year.

When results are released, use the official result-checking instructions provided by the Board.

For the 2026 mop-up examination, JAMB announced the release of results on June 16, 2026. Candidates who sat for that exercise were directed to use the Board’s established result checking channels.

You can visit the JAMB e-Facility or the official JAMB website for the available result services and instructions.

Do not confuse an examination notification slip with a result slip. The notification slip is used to communicate examination arrangements, while the result slip provides the candidate’s examination outcome.

What Happens If Your Name Is Not on the JAMB Mop-Up List?

If you believe you were affected by a problem during the main UTME but cannot access a mop-up notification slip, you should contact JAMB directly. Explain what happened and provide the relevant examination details requested by the Board.

A complaint or support ticket does not automatically guarantee inclusion in a mop-up exercise. JAMB must review the matter and determine whether the candidate qualifies.

Avoid paying anyone who claims to have special access to the mop-up list. Only JAMB can confirm your eligibility.
